Food industry: Sodebo will double its capacities in Vendée

The specialist in pizzas and prepared meals from the fresh section is planning the construction of five production and logistics units within ten years on its Vendée pole.

Sodebo is thinking big for its industrial estate in Montaigu-Vendée. It is on this one and only industrial pole covering dozens of hectares, the "Sodeboland", that the Vendée family group, very innovative , manufactures its pizzas, Pastabox, prepackaged sandwiches, prepared salads, filled cakes and other prepared dishes intended for especially on the fresh shelves of stores.

If this sector is currently challenged by teleworking, Sodebo sees long term in terms of investments. Its industrial complex already brings together eight production units and a warehouse as well as the tertiary building. Within ten years, the company will almost double the stake if we are to believe the opinion recently published by the regional environmental authority mission (MRAE) of the Pays de la Loire on this project. When contacted, the company did not respond.

The project provides for five constructions by 2030, including a first “catering” production unit next year, an extension of the logistics platform the following year. In 2025, a factory specializing in packaging will be set up, along with a second logistics warehouse. Finally, by 2030, a second “catering” factory will emerge. For this, the existing complex will have to expand by around fifty hectares, according to the report which recommends better environmental integration for this project "with imposing dimensions and volumes" and which remains "at this stage still perfectible".
